questioner asked:

I have a laptop with VGA-out and a HDTV with Component Video-in. I bought a VGA to Component Video cable, connected it between my PC and TV, used the screen switch button, but both screens went black with a sort of blue square on the laptop monitor. Does anyone know why that might be?

The component video cable (i think it is called), is the one with the standard red, white and yellow AV jacks, and it has another three, which are red, green and blue. This is the only cable I have for my Xbox. If I was to plug this into an HDTV, would it give a proper HD output? Or would I need another cable like a HDMI or VGA?

I still want to use my old tv for gaming but i have a 360 and a ps2 but i can’t use them as they use component video and the tv only has a antenna entrance. What i was wondering is there a component video to antenna converter out there pr is my tv useless now? BTW i am aware about the dtv thing but i do own a hdtv with cable so im good tv wise.
