Seb asked:

I have a composite video cable to connect my TV and my PVR. I bought it 4 years ago. Today, it looks like it’s not working properly anymore. The colors are all faded. When I replace it with a RCA cable, colors are fine. I was wondering: what are the odds of a compositive video cable breaking down? I thought it would work a lifetime.

The Expert asked:

I know that the composite video cable only allows videos and music but does the S video cable play games on the tv or just higher quality videos?

I’m trying to see if there is any way to to take video coming through a composite cable (the oh-so-famous yellow, white and red chord that comes from the back of so many video electronics) through a laptop screen, thus allowing you to watch video from, say, a VCR, through your laptop screen. Is this possible, and how is it done?
