I’m using an Everex 17 screen laptop with Vista. I want to hook up the laptop to the TV just a standard crummy TV to use as a DVD player at work. Its easier than hauling a PS2 and all the cables back and forth. I got the display to go through using the S-Video cable but I can’t get the sound to come out through the TV speakers. Just the computer.

I watch movies on DirecTV, and I was wondering if I can use the S-Video cable and connect it to the back of the DirecTV Receiver and the other end to my laptop and somehow record the streaming video from the TV onto my laptop.
