If I hook up my DVD player using the component ports for my video, can I simply use the audio cables from a composite cable set for my audio?

I have seen 5-RCA component cable sets being sold, which is basically the 3 component video cables with the red and white audio cables. But do I need this if I can use a component cable with the audio from a composite cable set?
